MEET THE TEAM
Always looking to improve, Hein joined the South African Police Service where he worked in various roles such as the Crime Prevention Unit, Intelligence Gathering and as a Police Undercover Agent. He went on to complete the South African Police Service Special Task Force selection and training which includes vasbyt, advanced weapons handling, military free-fall, small team tactics, survival, advanced close quarter battle, advanced rural operations, maritime interdiction operations, hostage rescue, advanced VIP protection and driving, counter-terror, explosive breaching and various other high-risk operation training, becoming a member of one of the most elite police special operations units in the world. He served most of his time in the Pretoria unit, gaining operational experience across South Africa as a fully-fledged Special Task Force Operator. After leaving the Unit in December 2021, Hein dedicated himself to the formation and growth of FSCA.
TIER 1 PROGRAMS
Designed for the elite professional, our Tier 1 Programs deliver the highest level of tactical training on the African continent. Built with strict pass/fail standards, these courses demand 100% effort, every second.
Your success isn’t guaranteed, it’s earned. Students are pushed to their limits through high-pressure evaluations, full-mission profiles, and hyper-realistic scenarios that replicate modern tactical operations. You will be continuously evaluated throughout the program, ensuring knowledge and skills have been transferred, and that you are capable of performing them under pressure.
When you complete these programs, you won’t just receive a certificate and badge—you’ll know, without a doubt, that you are operationally ready, physically and mentally, for the unforgiving realities of the tactical world.
1. Close Quarter Battle (2025)
Urban areas provide the most high-risk environment in the 21st century. Proficiency in this skillset not only requires extreme discipline, high levels of fitness and mental preparation, but also the highest level of training and instruction. Our training team has years of operational experience and first-world training in Close Quarter Battle. This real-world experience, gained from live operations, allows for true knowledge transfer.
In 2025 we have changed the system. Formerly having Basic Close Quarter Battle (CQB) and Advanced Close Quarter Battle course options, we have now fused the courses to form one 8-day program, taking students from a basic level all the way to Advanced CQB.
The FSC Africa CQB course is designed for current and former Military, Police, Law Enforcement, Security and trained civilian personnel with limited knowledge of Close Quarter Battle, who wish to upskill their abilities in order to be safer and more effective in this environment. It will begin at the basics and bring the learner to a proficient level of basic CQB, up to a 4-man team with a basic understanding of structures, doorways, entry and clearing techniques.
We then start raising the bar by adding advanced CQB techniques, modern day technologies, advancing all the skillsets, working from ropes, incorporating larger stacks and teams, and putting the students through more complex and challenging structures. Adding tools to the tactical toolbox such as tactical ropework, decoy devices, shields, Infra-Red laser modules, Night Vision Devices and much more.
Please note that from 2025 the Basic and Advanced Close Quarter Battle courses will be combined and offered as a single course.
2025 Course Dates
- 18 April – 27 April
- 15 Aug – 24 Aug
2. Advanced Anti-Poaching Operations Course (2025)
The Advanced Anti-Poaching Operations Course is designed for tactical professionals who wish to gain extensive knowledge and experience in the African Rural environment. Anti-poaching is a vital part of Rural Operations, but learning only those skills can leave you under-skilled in other high-risk rural type taskings such as mine security, border security, remote taskings and other work you may encounter as a professional.
African Battlecraft encompasses skills such as survival, tracking, bushcraft, remote medical, tactical navigation, camouflage, basic reconnaissance, and clandestine operations to close quarter bush tactics and small team tactics. Introducing 21st century technologies and tactics will make this course the first of its kind, combining age old, tried and tested, bush tactics in conjunction with modern day techniques and technological aids such as dual-tube night vision devices, infra-red laser light modules, flashlights, thermal imaging, drones and digital mapping.
The anti-poaching will introduce the student to anti-poaching and conservation law enforcement operations on the African continent. Students will conduct training among Africa’s big 5 (Lion, leopard, Rhino, Elephant, and Buffalo), learning how to conduct clandestine anti-poaching operations, understand animal behaviour, fauna and flora, poaching methods, arrest procedures, counter ambush and waylay techniques, vehicle mounted patrols, informant handling and processing and other vital skills important to the Anti-poaching field. This segment will be based purely out in the African bushveld and will be conducted as if on live operations.
2025 Course Dates
- 8 Jun – 30 Jun
- 15 Sep – 7 Oct
TIER 2 PROGRAMS
Understanding that not all organisations and individuals are physically or mentally prepared for our Tier 1 Programs, and that personnel do not all have the capacity to get the time off required to attend our Tier 1 Programs, we have designed shorter and less stringent workshops which will fall under our Tier 2 Program.
For our Tier 2 programs, we have removed the fitness requirements, operational prerequisites, and standards have been adjusted to allow for individuals and teams to concentrate on the skills and knowledge being transferred without the stress of being removed or disqualified from the program.
FSC Africa’s CQB experience stems from the years of global operational experience that our former Special Operations Trainers have gathered from global military and police backgrounds at some of the highest tiers.
